Auto Expo 2025 Day 1: New Launches, Showcases & More

The second edition of Bharat Mobility Auto Expo kicked off yesterday, it started off on a high note delivering new levels of innovation and cutting edge automotive technology.

Day 1 featured some of the best from not only the local brands but from some of the best luxury brands as well. The day kicked off with electrifying launches of the most awaited relaunch of Tata’s most iconic SUV came in its all new ICE avatar to production spec version of Maruti’s first EV and Hyundai’s launch of India’s most affordable EV.

Here are the highlights of the Day 1 at the Auto Expo 2025 :

Production-Spec Maruti e-Vitara Showcased

Maruti Suzuki unveiled its first all-electric vehicle in the form of e-Vitara, at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025. It is being locally manufactured and will be available for both domestic and international markets, the e-Vitara boasts a claimed range of over 500 km.

Pricing details will be announced in March.

Tata Sierra Returns

Tata’s iconic Sierra made a comeback with all the lines and creases with an ICE (internal combustion engine) avatar. While closely resembling its EV counterpart, featuring minor tweaks to the grille, bumper, and alloy wheels. The Sierra ICE is expected to be powered by Harrier’s tried and tested 2-litre diesel engine or Tata’s new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Production-Ready Tata Harrier EV Revealed

Tata Motors made headlines with its production-ready version of the Harrier EV. Confirmed to feature a dual-motor setup with all-wheel-drive (AWD), the Harrier EV’s battery and motor specifications are yet to be disclosed.

Tata Avinya Showcased in Evolved Form

The Tata Avinya made an appearance in an evolved version, featuring a sleek design with a sloping roofline. While powertrain details remain under wraps, the Avinya is expected to hit the market in 2026.

New Editions of Tata Safari, Harrier, and Nexon EV

Tata hosts a lot more launches with its new editions of its popular SUVs—Safari, Nexon EV, and Harrier—including the Bandipur and Stealth editions. The Stealth edition features a matte black exterior for all the black lovers, while the Bandipur edition comes in a striking Bandipur Bronze shade, paying homage to the Bandipur National Forest.

Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV Debuts in India

Coming from the house of joint venture between Maruti and Toyota, Toyota’s Urban Cruiser BEV, a rebadged version of the Maruti e-Vitara, made its debut. While maintaining a similar silhouette, it features a distinct fascia and promises a range of over 550 km.

Hyundai Creta Electric Launched

Hyundai launched its most affordable EV in India yet, the Creta Electric, with prices starting at ₹17.99 lakh. It will be made available in four variants—Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence—the Creta Electric offers a range of up to 473 km.

Two New MG Cars Unveiled

MG Motor isn’t behind the launch race as well and it introduced two new vehicles: The Cyberster, a 2-door all-electric sports car, and The M9, a Carnival-sized premium electric MPV. Both models will be available at Select MG outlets across India.

Kia EV6 Facelift and Carnival Hi Limousine Showcased

Kia currently owned by its parent company Hyundai also took the golden opportunity to update its line up of Kia EV6 made its India debut with sharper styling, while the Carnival Hi Limousine variant debuted globally alongside its facelift. The Carnival Hi Limousine offers a luxury-focused experience.

Skoda’s Five Showcases

Škoda Auto Volkswagen India is serious about its plans for india and presented with five models, including the next-generation Superb, Kodiaq, and Octavia vRS, along with its new EVs, the Elroq and Vision 7S.

BMW iX1 LWB Launched

BMW launched the long-wheelbase (LWB) version of the iX1, priced at Rs. 49 lakh. Locally produced in India, the iX1 LWB features a 66.4 kWh battery pack and offers a range of up to 531 km.

Mercedes-Benz Showcases Seven Models

Mercedes-Benz dominated the luxury segment with seven showcases, including the G-Wagon Electric, E-Class LWB AMG Line, new-gen CLA Concept, Maybach EQS 680 Night Series, Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 Night Series, AMG SL 55 4MATIC+, and AMG S 63 E Performance.
